GEORGE TOWN: A woman, who through contact tracing found she was connected to a nurse at Penang Adventist Hospital (PAH) where a Covid-19 case was detected, has decided to self-quarantine for 14 days as a precaution.

The woman, who refused to be named, said she traced her contacts to a nurse who tended to a Covid-19 patient last week.

“I didn't know about this initially but found out later that we were in a line of contacts. To be safe, I decided to self-quarantine for 14 days until the end of August. On Aug 7, a 56-year-old female patient from Kedah, who was asymptomatic, was admitted into PAH due to an infected leg wound. The Tawar cluster involved family members who attended a memorial service for a family member from July 31 to Aug 1.

Penang Adventist Hospital chief executive officer Ronald Koh said they had done Covid-19 antigen tests on 57 nurses and two doctors who had close contact with the patient.
