The Health Ministry said there were 3,429 new Covid19 cases reported on Tuesday (Aug 16) while the daily recoveries continued to surpass infections. Read more at

According to the ministry's CovidNow portal, 3,423 of the new Covid-19 infections in the country were local transmissions, while there were 6 imported cases.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country to 4,741,413 cases since the pandemic began. A total of 9 deaths were recorded on Tuesday with 1 classified as being brought in dead, bringing the total to 36,102.
