PUTRAJAYA: The Health Ministry has identified 15 new Covid-19 clusters, taking the active number to 1,268.

In its daily Covid-19 update, the ministry reported that the highest number of cases involved a workplace in the Bangi industrial area where 70 individuals tested positive so far, with 14 new infections reported on Thursday.

A workplace in Muar, Johor also recorded a high number of cases with 61 people infected out of 210 screened.The locally transmitted cases involved 12,491 Malaysians and 1,259 foreigners. Of the reported cases on Thursday, 13,521 were under Categories One and Two, and 233 were in the more serious Categories Three, Four and Five.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 1,107 persons nationwide are in need of treatment in the intensive care unit ; 868 of them are confirmed Covid-19 patients while the remaining 239 are suspected or probable cases or under investigation.Dr Noor Hisham said the country’s cumulative number of infections stood at 2,156,678.

The Klang Valley saw 2,382 cases where aside from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur registered 383 cases and Putrajaya, 14.
