OVERCROWDING in the country’s prisons must be immediately addressed to curb the spread of Covid-19, said a lawyers group for human rights.

Lawyers for Liberty coordinator Zaid Malek said one way to significantly reduce the number of inmates was to release those jailed for minor and non-violent offences as well as those who had served two-thirds of their sentences.
