Foreign Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah said at the initial stage of the outbreak, there were 35,000 Malaysians but later on, the number rose to 77,000.

Saifuddin also said the travel advisory issued for Malaysians traveling to China still remains in place. “There is a commitment among the Asean Foreign Ministers as well as China’s Foreign Minister for us to share information and enhance cooperation at this initial stage to handle the outbreak of this virus.Saifuddin also said Asean and China are looking into the economic impact from the outbreak and had agreed to overcome it together.

On the action plan taken by Asean in regards to Covid-19, Saifuddin said at the moment, it would involve cooperation in the health sector. Saifuddin also held an informal discussion on the side-lines of the meeting with Singapore Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan on how the two neighbours could further strengthen cooperation in their fight on the outbreak.
