Covid-19 screening missing more than half of infected, says study

A clinical study shows that global health screening efforts may be missing more than half of those infected with Covid-19 as patients who are not showing symptoms are nearly impossible to detect. – EPA pic, February 26, 2020.

GLOBAL screening efforts to prevent the rapid spread of coronavirus are likely to fail, according to new research warning that even best-case screenings of air travellers will miss more than half of infected people. The novel coronavirus has infected more than 80,000 people worldwide since its emergence in central China last month.
