SIBU: Sarawakians who have yet to receive their Covid-19 vaccine booster dose have been urged to get it done, says Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

"With Omicron cases already surging in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah, please, please get your booster dose before Omicron surges in Sarawak soon," he wrote in a Facebook post onThursday .

In the post, Dr Sim said that a total of 1,814,752 adults in Sarawak are eligible for the booster dose between October and January, but only 74.2% of them had come forward to receive their shots, with 468,904 who have yet to get it done. Dr Sim said the people had no excuse to skip the booster dose because there were multiple options and vaccine combinations available.

He added that the state was also looking forward to vaccinating children aged five to 11 years, with 272,500 Sarawakians in this age bracket eligible for inoculation.
