: The Ministry of Health is now better prepared for handling the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic which is more challenging, after learning from its experiences in tackling the outbreak since March.

Apart from the mobilisation of personnel and equipment in advance, the government also approved emergency procurement totalling RM25 million, of which RM18 million is for PPE and another RM7 million to be distributed to hospitals and district health offices. “A total of 149 beds in the Intensive Care Units are currently 60 per cent utilised and 193 breathing aids with 27 per cent utilisation,” he said in response to a question from a journalist during his daily press conference on Covid-19 here, today.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said that 7.7 per cent of the infections were in prisons, but the spread could be controlled and the MOH would increase control activities in prisons, immigration detention depots and temporary detention depots in Sabah.
