KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia recorded a 27.9% increase in new Covid-19 cases for the 24th epidemiological week (ME 24) from June 12 to 18, but also a 16% drop in deaths in the same period against the previous week.

said cases increased to 14,195 compared with 11,096 reported in ME 23.

Dr Noor Hisham said in a statement on Monday that the average daily active cases for ME 24 saw a 9.3% increase to 24,053 cases over the previous week. "The average infectivity rate showed a 12.5% increase at 1.08, compared with 0.96 reported in the previous week,” he said. He also said there was no significant change in the number of Covid-19 patient admissions to hospitals and Quarantine and Treatment Centres per 100,000 population.
