KOTA KINABALU: Close contact cases are the highest contributor for Covid-19 cases in Sabah, accounting for 59% or 591 from the total of 1,002 on Sunday (Aug 1), says Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.

The state Local Government and Housing Minister said 63% of the 171 cases in Kota Kinabalu were close contacts, while Tawau's 171 cases recorded 70% from this category."This data showed that Covid-19 infection is spreading among the community," he said on Sunday.

"Based on field data, we need total compliance of standard operating procedures , where self-discipline is vital besides full vaccination in order to avoid infection. "We will continue to improve this until we reach 50,000 daily doses," he stressed, adding that maximum immunisation capacity and continuous vaccine supply would ensure Sabah reach herd immunity sooner.
