The decision was achieved after the presentation by the Sabah National Security Council during a special meeting chaired by the Prime Minister on Tuesday .
Ismail said the MTC is needed as the number of Covid-19 cases in the prison has increased and it will serve as a quarantine and treatment centre for inmates who test positive.“The armed forces field hospital in Tawau will also start to operate this week, ” the Senior Minister said in his daily press conference on Tuesday.“The operation of the field hospital will focus on non-Covid-19 patients while the government hospital will be focusing on the treatment for Covid-19 patients, ” he added.
Ismail also said should the number of cases in Sabah continue to increase, the armed forces will be ready to set up more field hospitals in areas advised by the Health Ministry.
