KUALA LUMPUR: Thirty-six people were detained and fined on Friday (July 10) for violating the recovery movement control order (MCO), says Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The Senior Minister on Saturday said those detained committed various offences, including taking part in contact sports and gathering in large numbers without practising social distancing.

"The compliance operation task force, led by the police, performed 64,434 checks on Friday," he said. There were 2,630 teams which inspected 3,949 supermarkets, 5,673 restaurants, 1,977 traders, 1,159 factories, 3,718 banks and 901 government offices," he said in a statement on Saturday . Meanwhile in Ops Benteng, 68 roadblocks were set up nationwide and 32,106 vehicles were checked on Friday to stop the entry of illegal immigrants into the country, he added."The government will take stern action against any party that attempts to enter the country illegally.Article type: free
