KUCHING: The Sarawak police have compounded 25 men, including a policeman, for riding their motorcycles from Kota Samarahan to Simunjan without an inter-district permit during the conditional movement control order.

State deputy police commissioner DCP Datuk Dev Kumar said the motorcyclists were stopped during a snap check at KM1 Jalan Tun Openg in Simunjan by a police team at 2pm on Tuesday ."Upon investigation, all of them were found to be from Kota Samarahan. They could not produce the inter-district travel permit and failed to give a reasonable excuse for why they were travelling to Simunjan.

"They also admitted that they were only out for a recreational ride as they had not been on their motorcycles for a long time," he said in a statement on Wednesday . DCP Dev said the motorcyclists were brought to the Simunjan police station and issued with compounds for breaching the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations.

After receiving the compounds, the motorcyclists were told to return to Kota Samarahan via the Batang Sadong bridge.
