Chen said his winning dish was puy lentils-stuffed aubergine with beetroot and cinnamon reduction and trio of prawns served with pak choy, pomme puree, pickled shallot and cardamom sauce. Chef Farouk was himself one of the 24 best chefs in the world at The Bocuse D’or 2009 and coached all the Malaysian winners at the Young Chef Oympiad.
Taylor’s University received the “Sustainability Initiative Champion”, an award given to the top 10 academic establishments with progressive sustainability initiatives, which was the event theme for the Young Chef Olympiad 2020 “Acing the culinary competition for the third time raises the bar for our award-winning school, being the first in Malaysia and 14th in the World for Hospitality and Leisure Management based on the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2019.”
