KUALA LUMPUR: Action was taken against 585 individuals for violating the conditional movement control order (MCO) on Friday (Oct 23).

said compounds were issued to 569 people, with 13 others remanded and the remaining three issued police bail.

"Among the offences were not wearing face masks, not maintaining physical distancing and failure to provide facilities to record personal details. "The compliance operation task force led by the police conducted 54,804 inspections nationwide, including at 3,324 supermarkets, 4,383 restaurants and 1,142 factories," he said during his daily briefing on Saturday .

Meanwhile, in the ongoing Ops Benteng, 27 undocumented immigrants were detained while eight vehicles were seized on Friday ."Ops Benteng will focus more on deporting illegal immigrants rather than arresting them," he added.He said there were at present 8,378 people undergoing mandatory quarantine at 67 hotels and 17 other premises nationwide, while 381 people had been sent to hospitals for treatment.

Eighty-six sites adhered to standard operating procedures while the remaining 45 sites were not in operation, said Ismail.
