CHINA’S new carrier rocket, the Smart Dragon-1 designed for commercial use, made its maiden flight today, sending three satellites into planned orbit, the Xinhua news agency reported. The rocket, developed by China Rocket Co Ltd affiliated with the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology , blasted off from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre in northwest China at 12.11pm.
