KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 13 ― Bursa Malaysia opened slightly lower today but rebounded thereafter, supported by renewed buying interest in selected heavyweights, dealers said.

“The energy counters may shine as the crude oil price continues its uptrend. Besides, investors are likely to put banking, metal-related and consumer-related stocks on their radar on the back of economic recovery and easing concerns over the Omicron Covid-19 variant,” it said in a research note today.

“On the commodities market, the crude oil price is hovering above the US$84 per barrel mark as investors anticipate strengthening demand amid the economic recovery mode, while crude palm oil price is hovering above RM5,000,” it added. Of the actives, Kanger International, Key Alliance and MQ Technology were flat at 2.5 sen, 1.5 sen and 8.5 sen, respectively, while AHB Holdings added 1.5 sen to 29.5 sen.
