Tan arrived at the federal police headquarters at about 9.30am Thursday , accompanied by Dong Zong secretary-general Ng Chai Heng, as well as their lawyers.
It is learnt that officers from the Bukit Aman CID's Special Investigation Unit were tasked with recording Tan's statement.Tan said he was informed by the police on Wednesday to go to Bukit Aman to have his statement recorded. “We were asked to come over to give our statements over a few police reports lodged. We are here to give our cooperation.
“I wish to stress we are not a racist group. Our views are the same as those offered by other races, ” Tan told reporters.Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Huzir Mohamed had prior to this said Tan would be called in over the group’s statement that the introduction of Jawi calligraphy in vernacular schools was a form of Islamisation.Last week, Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said Dong Zong was among several parties to be questioned following reports lodged against them.
The cases will be investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code, which deals with intentional insult with an intent to provoke a breach of the peace.
