The Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department released an infographic on Monday showing that 1,724 vehicles were involved in 1,445 accidents on Sunday.
Of that number, 1,310 involved cars while 230 were four-wheel drive vehicles and 144 were motorcycles.In a related matter, the department has gone to the ground to advocate road safety during the festive season. It said the initiative was a step towards reducing road accidents, emphasising road safety and educating road users to obey traffic laws while practising good driving habits.
"Areas of interest for these advocacy sessions are petrol stations, rest stops, restaurants and shopping malls," it said.
