PETALING JAYA: Bukit Aman has opened investigations over a leak of classified documents.

Royal Malaysia Police corporate communications head Senior Asst Comm Datuk Asmawati Ahmad said the police have detected information over the leak, which was spread via WhatsApp by certain individuals.

"Section 203A stipulates that whoever has any information or matter which to his knowledge has been disclosed in contravention of subsection shall be punished by a fine of not more than one million ringgit, or with imprisonment for a term which may extend to one year, or both," she said in a statement on Wednesday .

"We also urge them to come forward and help with our investigations to determine the source of the leak," she said. It was recently reported that police confirmed the content of the leaked circular that was issued to all state police chiefs.
