Woman told ex-civil servant she was in charge of auctioning off vehicles seized by the department. CarAuction FMTnews

GEORGE TOWN: A former civil servant lost RM27,300 to a woman claiming to be a Road Transport Department officer who offered to sell him 67 cars she claimed were being auctioned off by the department.

North Seberang Perai police chief Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the 53-year-old man was introduced to the woman by his brother. He said the woman told the victim there were 90 vehicles forfeited by the RTD for various offences and she was in charge of selling them off.The man agreed to pay her RM27,300 in nine tranches between June 23 and 25 to acquire 67 vehicles.
