KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah’s (PBS) Kiulu candidate Datuk Joniston Bangkuai is not holding back his punches against rival Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau, the Upko president.

Joniston has reminded the people during a ceramah that it was Madius, who in the 2018 election purportedly told the people “a vote for Warisan was a vote for illegal immigrants”.

Upko, which won five seats under Barisan, joined Warisan as another opposition, Sabah STAR led by Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan that won two seats, supported Sabah Barisan led by Tan Sri Musa Aman.Later, PBS also left Barisan to become an Independent opposition party. The opposition grouping known as Gabungan Rakyat Sabah is the main opponent to Shafie’s Warisan Plus which is seeking a second term at the Sept 26 state polls.

He told voters not only in Kiulu but across the Kadazandusun, Murut and Rungus heartland that it was a party decision to safeguard the interest of the community.
