'Di Tokyo, air ditakung dahulu supaya tidak berlakunya banjir kilat atau air bertakung yang teruk, maka air disimpan di bawah tanah.'

KUALA LUMPUR: Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur akan membuat kajian berhubung cadangan penyimpanan air bawah tanah seperti dilakukan di Tokyo, Jepun sebagai salah satu pelan untuk mengatasi banjir kilat di ibu negara.

“Di Tokyo, air ditakung dahulu supaya tidak berlakunya banjir kilat atau air bertakung yang teruk, maka air disimpan di bawah tanah. Kita sedang mengkaji perkara ini melalui perunding yang dilantik untuk mengeluarkan penemuan berkaitan perkara tersebut dalam tempoh empat hingga lima bulan. Beliau berkata, DBKL kini giat melakukan persediaan rapi terutama dari segi penyelenggaraan dan kebersihan tempat pengairan serta saliran seperti longkang berikutan data taburan hujan jauh lebih tinggi direkodkan di Kuala Lumpur berbanding sebelum ini.

Sementara itu, beliau berkata, DBKL mengalami kerugian kira-kira RM700,000 apabila hiasan landskap dan pokok bunga hiasan rosak pada sambutan Hari Kebangsaan, Rabu lalu.
