The Badminton Association of Malaysia president Tan Sri Norza Zakaria confirmed yesterday that the All-England champion had tendered his resignation last week.
Previously, BAM have banned Tan Chun Seang from competing in Asia for two years in 2011 when he walked out on the national body.“BAM are not a static institution. We tried to understand his situation without prejudice and had even counter offer to make him stay because he’s our No. 1 player,” said Norza after attending the flag-handing ceremony to the Malaysian contingent for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics from next month.
“As president, I’m obviously disappointed because we grinded hard to find a worthy replacement for Lee Chong Wei,” added Norza.“It’s akin to siblings chipping in to help fund another sibling’s studies. They all do this hoping that this sibling would one day contribute back to the family.“I give you this analogy because if a player still has aspirations to realise his dreams, then we will work hard for the sake of national interest.
Sanctioning or banning are heavy penalties for one who’s dependent on an income stream to go on n to sustain ..sometimes , one , a person or Body ,has to look at d consequences - whether it ‘s extreme or moderate. Badminton is a sport, all shud ‘ survive ‘ , reconsider pl.
What a prick BA_Malaysia you can't offer any incentives our neighbour country will grab it. As always our country brain dump to oversea
Then u play badminton for Malaysia? BAM? Or PejaOfPerak
Erm why? What other offences he committed? Doping/matchfixing? BAM = modern day slavery. Play for them or can't play at all.
Unless clearly state in d contract, it is unnecessary 2 sanction him who clearly wants out but 2 separate in a more +ve manner. Afterall, he is not playing 4 another nation, is he BA_Malaysia
Not right to sanction! Let him be.
Malaysians should sanction BAM instead..
