His wife of 12 years, Athiah Ilyana Abdul Samad is expecting their third child and Azizul is looking forward to the family reunion after serving two weeks of quarantine as required by the Australian government.

“I can’t wait to fulfil my responsibility as a husband to help my wife go through the final pregnancy process. “I will also be returning to my previous role as a professional baby sitter,” joked Azizul, who is already a father to two young daughters.“It’s my daily routine to train on the track but the intensity will be reduced as I have no plans to go for any competitions this year,” said Azizul, who left Melbourne in June to get ready for the Tokyo Olympics campaign.

“I have been away from my family for the longest time because of the travelling situation . It’s only fair that I spend time with them.”“I thank everyone for the support and I am grateful for the experiences, whether sweet or bitter, throughout my stay in my country.” Azizul had earlier received an invitation to race in Japan at the end of this year but he turned it down.Article type: metered
