PETALING JAYA: Rising men’s doubles pair Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Haikal Nazri know they will have to start taking their first baby steps if they harbour hopes of qualifying for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

With that in mind, the two 19-year-olds aim to win as many lower-tier tournaments as possible in order to climb up the world rankings fast.

Although these are the eighth and lowest-tier events in the international circuit hierarchy, Arif said he and Haikal are grateful to have an opportunity to compete. “That defeat taught us that we should focus on how we perform during the match more than anything else.”
