PETALING JAYA: Anak lelaki S Samy Vellu sedang mendapatkan perisytiharan dari Mahkamah Tinggi bahawa bekas presiden MIC itu mempunyai masalah mental untuk mempertahankan diri berhubung 2 tindakan undang-undang terhadapnya. Vell Paari berkata, bapanya, Samy, yang terkenal sebagai menteri kerja raya di bawah pentadbiran Dr Mahathir Mohamad 2 dekad lalu, didiagnosis menghidap demensia akibat penyakit Alzheimer 2 tahun lalu.
“Bagaimanapun, saya telah memfailkan permohonan sehingga sekarang. Tindakan yang difailkan terhadap bapa saya harus dipertahankan dan saya perlu diberi kuasa dengan betul oleh mahkamah,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan hari ini.
