Deputy Public Prosecutor Datuk Raja Rozela Raja Toran said the defence had given a literal interpretation to Section 30 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 to give all persons who disclose information to the MACC exemption from prosecution regardless of the outcome of the investigation.
Under Section 30, it is stated that any person who discloses any information to the MACC should not be prosecuted unless he made a false or misleading statement. "Therefore, the accused is not entitled to such a claim simply by virtue of having provided information to the MACC through D35 and D36," she said.
