The Yang di-Pertuan Agong has expressed his immense regret over the revocation of the Emergency Ordinances to which His Majesty has yet to issue a decree as it was presented to him.
The king’s statement led to a massive ruckus in the Dewan Rakyat today with Opposition lawmakers demanding the resignation of Takiyuddin, who is Kota Baru MP, and Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun. “Articles 150 and 150 of the Federal Constitution clearly give the authority for the enactment and revocation of ordinances to the King,“ Anwar read.
Fadil in the statement also pointed out that the government disrespected the Rukun Negara and went against the King’s functions and powers as the head of state which is stated in the constitution.
