KLANG: Public transport operators are reminded to strictly adhere to the stipulated standard operating procedures (SOP) now that interstate travel is allowed, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

He added that the government understood that Malaysians had been unable to go back to their hometowns for a long time due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

"All operators must ensure that every passenger or public transport user shows their vaccination certificate to prove that they have been fully vaccinated as required in the SOP for interstate travel," Dr Wee said in a statement Monday . He said public transport users were encouraged to carry out Covid-19 self-testing before travelling interstate in order to ensure their safety as well as that of their families and people who come in contact with them.

Dr Wee also said the ministry extended its appreciation to the many frontliners who had worked tirelessly to help push up the Malaysian adult vaccination rate to 90.02% as of Oct 10.
