PASIR Puteh MP Dr Nik Muhammad Zawawi Salleh broke his right ankle after his vehicle skidded and veered off the road at KM350.8 on the southbound North-South Expressway, near Tapah, today.
Nik Zawawi, who is the PAS Dewan Ulama chief, was taken to Slim River Hospital.
According to a Perak Fire and Rescue Department spokesman, they received a call about the accident at 1.02pm before a team from the Bidor Fire and Rescue Station rushed to the scene.
It is understood Nik Zawawi yesterday attended the Maulidur Rasul Premier Forum at Kompleks Pendidikan Matin, in Kangar, Perlis.
He was on his way to Kuala Lumpur when the accident occurred.
Tapah district police chief Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the vehicle carrying Nik Zawawi was driven by Mohamad Zuraihan Abdul Wahad, 28, who escaped unhurt. – Bernama, November 18, 2019.
