WELLINGTON: Kira-kira 80,000 penduduk terjejas susulan letusan gunung berapi dasar laut di Tonga yang mencetuskan tsunami di beberapa negara Pasifik, Sabtu lalu.
Talian internet dan telefon turut terjejas sehingga menyebabkan 105,000 penduduk tidak dapat dihubungi sehingga kini “Kami jangka seramai 80,000 orang di seluruh Tonga terkesan sama ada disebabkan letusan gunung berapi, ombak tsunami atau banjir akibat gegaran itu. Sementara itu, Pasukan Pertahanan New Zealand menerusi Twitter memaklumkan akan menghantar bantuan kapal terbang bagi ‘membantu melakukan penilaian impak awal kawasan dan pulau-pulau di lokasi rendah’.
