IPOH: A total of 40 Chinese nationals, including two women, were arrested in a raid by the Perak Immigration Department at a double-storey bungalow here Monday (Dec 9).

Its director, Kamalludin Ismail, said the raid was carried out between 4.30pm and 6.30pm at a house on Jalan Tun Dr Ismail, where the suspects aged between 18 and 54 were arrested.

“We have been carrying out surveillance for the past four days prior to the raid, and none of the residents came out of the house, and no one went in.“My officers climbed over the wall, waited for an opportunity for someone to come out to the surrounding area, before we ambushed them, ” he told a press conference held at the department here.

He said they would be sent to the Langkap Immigration detention centre for staying in the country without any legal permit under Section 6 of the Immigration Act.“There were also used an unused condoms found, with each of the male keeping one unused condom with them. He said the department would liaise with other enforcement authorities if they were found to be involved in illegal activities.
