3 areas in Yan, Kedah, still unsafe for visitors

A total of 160 houses in villages are affected by floods caused by heavy rains in Yan, Kedah, leaving residents traumatised. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, October 24, 2021.

THE Batu Hampar, Seri Perigi and Titi Hayun resort areas in Yan, Kedah, which were adversely affected by the Gunung Jerai water surge incident on August 18, are still unsafe to be visited by the public. Kedah Works, Water Supply and Resources, and Energy Committee chairman Suraya Yaacob said this is because construction structures and land have collapsed in the areas, thus changing the landscape and resulting in a rapid and uncontrollable water flow.
