KUCHING: Churches in Sarawak will meet on Thursday (Aug 22) to pray for the nation, in conjunction with Merdeka.

About 2,000 people are expected to attend the Association of Churches in Sarawak's annual National Day prayer service at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre here.

"We pray for our lawmakers and leaders in Sarawak and Malaysia that they will continue to work harmoniously in upholding our religious freedom and to ensure that there will always be peace and prosperity," he told reporters on Tuesday .
