1,645 new Covid-19 cases, 2 deaths

THE Health Ministry reported 1,645 new coronavirus infections, talking the cumulative number of cases to 4,502,579 since the start of the pandemic in 2020.

Only one of the new cases was imported.

Recoveries surpassed new infections at 1,809. Total recoveries stood at 4,441,701.

Active cases were at 25,218, of which 96.1%, or 24,238, were isolated at home. Sixteen, or 0.1% of patients were in low-risk quarantine centres.

The ministry said 964 patients, or 3.82%, were in hospital, 34 of them in intensive care. Seventeen required ventilator support.

Selangor saw the most virus hospital admissions at 135, followed by Johor (86) and Sabah (63).

Two virus-linked deaths were reported yesterday, one each in Selangor and Kedah.

A total of 35,660 deaths have been attributed to Covid-19.
