Food delivery rider admits to sending obscene images via Instagram


A FOOD delivery rider pleaded guilty in the Johor Baru Sessions Court today to two counts of improper use of the network service by sending obscene images and video using the Instagram app two years ago.

Muhammad Khair Ma’ani, 25, was charged in proceedings before judge Che Wan Zaidi Che Wan Ibrahim.

The court then set June 19 to hear the facts of the case before meting out the sentence.

Khair was charged with using the app under the handle mkdaniel__ to knowingly make and initiate the transmission of a communication, in the form of pornographic pictures and videos, with the intent to offend others.

The offences were committed at Block C, Taman Ungku Tun Aminah, at about 8.50am on January 25, 2020.

The charges, under section 233(1)(a) of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 (Act 588), carries a maximum fine of RM50,000, a jail term of up to one year or both.

Communications and Multimedia Commission prosecuting officer Nur Nazhzilah Mohammad Hashim prosecuted, while Khair was unrepresented. – Bernama, May 19, 2022.
