2,373 new Covid-19 cases, 5 deaths

MALAYSIA recorded a drop in new Covid-19 cases to 2,373 infections yesterday, compared to 3,029 cases the day before.

The CovidNow website showed the total number of infections stood at 4,475,873 since the start of the pandemic.

Selangor posted the highest number of infections yesterday with 1,089 cases, followed by Kuala Lumpur (359) and Penang (189).

Negri Sembilan logged 162 new cases, Perak (116), Johor (55), Sarawak (48), Malacca (97), Putrajaya (53), Kedah (51), Pahang (58), Sabah (51), Terengganu (25), Kelantan (11), Perlis (6) and Labuan (3).

The Health Ministry yesterday reported five virus deaths, one of which was dead on arrival, taking the death toll to 35,612.

Kedah, Negeri Sembilan, Sabah, Selangor and Terengganu each reported one death.

The number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care units (ICU) stood at 47, of which 31 required respiratory support. – May 14, 2022.
