9,673 new Covid-19 infections, 16 deaths

MALAYSIA reported a slight decrease in Covid-19 infections yesterday, logging 9,673 cases compared to 10,413 the previous day.

The CovidNow website showed 16 more people were reported to have died from the virus, five of whom were brought in dead.

Active cases totalled 113,175 while the death toll stood at 35,397.

Selangor logged the highest number of infections with 6,148, followed by Kuala Lumpur (683) and Perak (505).

Negri Sembilan reported 504 cases, Johor (313), Penang (302),Malacca (263), Kedah (189), Sarawak (189), Terengganu (148), Pahang (132), Sabah (101), Kelantan (77), Putrajaya (50), Perlis (14) and Labuan (10).

The GitHub database showed that Perak reported the highest number of deaths at five. 

Pahang, Penang and Selangor logged two deaths each while Johor, Perlis, Sarawak and Kuala Lumpur reported one each.

The number of virus hospitalisations stood 2,281, of which 152 were in intensive care. Eighty-seven of the ICU patients were on ventilators. – April 16, 2022.
