COVID-19 | The Health Ministry reported 3,175 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the cumulative infections to 2,792,035.

They were more than the number of Covid-19 patients who recovered, which totalled 2,977. This is expected to contribute to a rise in the number of active cases.

  • Patients in ICU: 229
  • Intubated: 99

Nationally, the number of hospital admissions of confirmed Covid-19 patients in the last seven days has declined by 2.5 percent compared to the preceding week.

The hospitalisation utilisation rate stands at 65.1 percent while the intensive care unit (ICU) utilisation rate is at 58.6 percent.

As of today, the number of Covid-19 patients (including suspected ones) in the ICU is 9.1 percent lower compared to a week ago.

Those who require intubation have also declined by 26.1 percent from a week ago.

To date, 178 Covid-19 clusters are still active, including nine new clusters reported today.

The ongoing clusters have fallen by 11.0 percent from the 200 active clusters a week ago.

The infectivity rate continues to hover at 0.98 as of yesterday. It must be kept under 1.00 to prevent exponential growth in new cases.

There are several states and territories that meet or exceed the 1.00 threshold, namely Labuan (1.16), Kuala Lumpur (1.08), Sabah (1.06), Malacca (1.04), Putrajaya (1.03), Negeri Sembilan (1.01), Kedah (1.00), and Selangor (1.00).
