THE government spends RM150,000 each month to maintain Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s three special advisers, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Abdul Latiff Ahmad said.

“The monthly costs for each special adviser’s office come to RM50,000 each. This includes the wages and emoluments for the special adviser and his officers,” said the Mersing MP in a written reply to Parliament yesterday.

He said that the officers are people who have experience and expertise in the areas related to their job scope.

According to Latiff, the three will oversee the areas of law and human rights, religion and health respectively.

He added that the government is still in the process of appointing the special adviser for health.

On October 2, Pengerang MP Azalina Othman Said was appointed the special adviser for law and human rights while former religious minister Jamil Khir Baharom was appointed the special adviser for religion earlier this week.

Latiff was responding to Amiruddin Hamzah (Kubang Pasu-Pejuang) who asked the government how many special advisers the prime minister has and the costs involved in engaging their services. – December 2, 2021.
