More than half of 12-17 age group in Sabah given first vaccine jab

MORE than half or 50.5% of the adolescents aged 12-17 years in Sabah have received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine up to yesterday, state Housing and Local Government Minister Masidi Manjun said. 

Masidi, who is also the state government’s spokesman on Covid-19 in Sabah, said 20,148 adolescents were given the vaccine shots, bringing the cumulative number for the first dose to 215,249. 

“This is an encouraging figure since Sabah allowed the Covid-19 vaccination for teenagers starting September 16,” he said in a statement.

Masidi said until yesterday, more than 1.68 million or 61.2% of the state’s population have been fully vaccinated against the disease.

He said Sabah recorded 1,078 new infections today, bringing the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases to 194,264. 

He said 2,394 patients have recovered from the infection, bringing the total number to 173,450, while another 3,493 are still receiving treatment. – Bernama, September 26, 2021.
