Sultan of Johor urges Muslims to conduct special prayers

THE Sultan of Johor, Ibrahim Iskandar, has requested all Muslims in the state to conduct special prayers or ‘solat hajat’ to seek divine protection and safety from the Covid-19 threat.

Johor Islamic Religious Department director Md Rofiki A. Shamsudin said the sultan had decreed the prayers be held at mosques, suraus, as well as at home.

“They can be held after maghrib prayer or any other appropriate time, as well as during the Friday prayers,” read the statement posted on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook page today.

The sultan also called on Muslims to continue adhering to the standard operating procedures set by the government to break the Covid-19 chain of infection. – Bernama, May 5, 2021.
