KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — The Health Ministry today identified two new Covid-19 clusters in Borneo Malaysia — one located in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and the other in Limbungan, Labuan.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the new Kota Kinabalu cluster is named Lintas and was detected during workplace screenings on October 26.

“This cluster has six confirmed cases so far,” he said during his daily press conference in Putrajaya.

He said the new Labuan cluster is named Limbungan and involves 20 people so far.

Dr Noor Hisham said there are currently 119 active Covid-19 clusters in the country of which two were classified today.

He said Negri Sembilan reported more cases than all the Klang Valley territories combined for the first time since the third wave began in September.

For Negri Sembilan, 155 new cases were reported today from which 149 cases came from existing clusters.

“States in Klang Valley reported 138 cases today, 65 cases came from existing clusters,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Noor Hisham said the health ministry was glad to see that the rate of infection (R0, or R-naught) in Selangor has dropped from 2.2 to 1.2.

An R0 value is used to calculate how fast the Covid-19 virus is spreading.

“If we can bring it down to 0.3, we can flatten the curve.

“If we are at the peak, then probably give us another three or four weeks and we can bring the cases down to two digits or a single digit in time to come,” he added.
