PRIME Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad wants the people to go into business as entrepreneurship will only increase wealth.

He said there was a limit to the amount one could earn working for others, but with the will to succeed, one could make millions leading in business.

“I am interested to see those in rural areas reach success in business as there is much disparity between towns and rural areas.

“Usually in the cities, people are richer, and in the rural areas, people are poorer.

“But, if we learn how to do businesses, we, too, can get the same income, maybe more than those in the cities,” he said at a motivation event for young Bumiputera entrepreneurs in Setia Alam today.

The three-day event organised by the Rural Development Ministry aims to guide participants on how to manage businesses and identify opportunities.

Dr Mahathir said he also wanted to send local entrepreneurs to Okinawa, Japan, to learn business skills.

“During my recent visit to Okinawa, I found a number of businesses that we Malays could be good at.

“I visited a glass factory and I saw beautiful products. They asked me to make a glass product but how could I, for I had never made such a product? But believe me, in 15 minutes, I could produce something beautiful.

“We can learn if we want to, if there is a will. We all have our abilities,” said Dr Mahathir. – January 26, 2020.
