The full return to offices has been delayed until next spring, so where does the Government policy on return to workplaces stand now and what about the right to request remote working?

The full return to offices has been delayed until next spring leaving many employees and businesses adrift trying to navigate through the changed plan.

Many workers had been allocated days to come in to the office so the return was staggered with numbers remaining low. When NPHET met earlier this week, it recommended that all who can work from home should continue to do so although the return to the workplace could continue on "a phased and cautious basis".

"It is not good enough for the Government to say a full return to offices will not be possible until spring without ensuring that workers can continue to work remotely, where possible."The Government plans to introduce new laws to create a legal framework to give workers the right to request remote working.

Also, despite the public health advice for people to work from home, there is no legal right to do so. Employees can only ask for such a request to be facilitated.

Excellent piece, I would say one thing though, where does the Health & Safety work act come into all this? The employer has a duty of care to the H&S of the employee & must provide a safe place of work. So, WFH, under public health advice must be best practice? Seems obvious.

Were does it leave school staff who have no contact tracing nor is there mask wearing in primary schools? Do we not deserve to have safe work places?

Schools are also workplaces.

The confusion of business owners and politicians was that ronan Glynn was making sense and thus off script.

Who wanted, returned to offices long ago. Do you have any other staff to write about?

Been back in the office for months.

Lunacy

92% vaccinated but shit is still a mess. So admit the vaccine failed.

'public health advice is still for people to work from home where possible, the reality for many workers is that they have been summoned back to the workplace even though they could continue to work from home.” Exactly - summoning workers to office to do virtual meetings for eg

My office was rearing to go back this week. Instead the stupid transition arrangements are going to run. Needlessly bringing in about 25% of people each day. What strikes is their arrogance in comms saying we're lucky to have remote working. They still don't get it.

Everyone is back in the office 😂😂😂

The government restrictions are a complete joke and without any sense or merit.

Have you seen the Dublin traffic lately? Trust me, office workers are back.

Hope it never happens , working from home is the way forward

So you can go to pubs and on to nightclubs but not sit in the office.
