The Taoiseach has said that the Cabinet has agreed that current health measures on Covid-19 should remain in place until 10 August.

The Taoiseach said that the roadmap on reopening Ireland made it clear that each phase and indicative date for them would be kept under constant review. Earlier, the Cabinet decided that the reopening of pubs and nightclubs will be deferred to 10 August. Some 200 people can gather outside. This was due to increase to 500 in Phase 4 of the easing of coronavirus restrictions, under the roadmap for reopening announced last month.

The memo, which deals with a range of issues, will be discussed by Cabinet which is meeting this evening.Ministers will discuss a proposal to extend the regulation requiring face coverings on public transport, which came into effect on Monday. There has been an increase in the number of clusters of Covid-19 in private households, particularly in the last week.
