The National Emergency Co-ordination Group is to meet this morning to assess the situation as Storm Jorge hits Ireland.
Winds of up to 80km/h with gusts of up to 130km/h are forecast and the warning will remain in effect until 4pm. Met Éireann says wintry showers of hail, sleet and show will spread eastwards during the morning leading to low visibility and hazardous driving conditions. The warning is in effect until 4pm.
Storm Jorge is the seventh named storm so far this winter season but the third since the start of this month. — AA Roadwatch February 28, 2020 Head of Forecasting at Met Éireann Evelyn Cusack said the colour of the warning for an area does not matter so much on this occasion because the land already is so wet, and the gusts are going to be so strong that that every part of the country could experience serious storm damage and falling trees.
