Update on pub and restaurant opening date as hairdressers & retail to open early

Cabinet is meeting this afternoon where any final decision will be made before the Taoiseach's announcement.

There had been some doubt as to whether the lockdown would officially lift on Tuesday or Wednesday - with Tuesday now more likely. This means high-street retail will be back come on Tuesday, while you can also get your hair cut once again.As for bars and restaurants - the wet pub dream appears to be dead - but the rest are potentially going to open as early as December 4.

"There are hard decisions that have to be made, there are no doubts about it, but around Europe, the conversations my counterparts are having are around how they stop an escalation in Covid fatalities."
