Three Irish soldiers have been injured while on patrol in Mali

The soldiers sustained minor injuries when an Improvised Explosive Device detonated close to their patrol convoy east of their base in Gao.

It is understood that all three received medical treatment and the Defence Forces says they are "safe and well" and that their families have been informed. In a statement the Defence Forces said it conducts intensive pre-deployment training in order to prepare for such an incident.

I would say wounded, not injured. Injured sounds like an accident, rather than being blown up.

god bless our brave soldiers , irish soldiers are some of the best trained in the world and the mali army will benefit greatly from serving side by side with them to counter islamic terrorists threatening their nation , shame on the do gooders saying they shouldn't be there
